Flight: Eyre Creek & Lake Machattie

The Channel Country region is putting on a remarkable display after the flooding rains throughout Western QLD in late Dec/early January 2026. This floodwater will exquisitely rejuvenate the Channel Country and will leave a sea of green floodplain in its wake as it recedes. A true spectacle to witness from the air.

The Eyre Creek and Georgina River catchment has experienced notable flooding, enough to fully rejuvenate the Eyre Creek & Lake Machattie wetland area.

These flooding events naturally draw an abundance of birdlife to the area with large populations of pelicans choosing to nest and feed in the thousands of fibrous flooded channels. All of this and more can be witnessed from the air on our Eyre Creek & Lake Machattie scenic flight.
