Birdsville & Big Red Ground Tours
The Birdsville Hotel is the proud owner and operator of the Birdsville Bakery, Birdsville Scenic Flights, Aviation Refuelling Service and Simpson Desert Recovery Services and is now excited to be able to offer local Ground Tours as part of its stable of operations.
No visit to Birdsville is complete without a 4WD tour to the famous sand dune "Big Red", an absolute bucket list item. Located 35 kms west of Birdsville and considered the gateway to the Munga-Thirri Simpson Desert our new 4 wheel drive mini buses will safely take you there and up to the top of 'Big Red' for an unforgettable experience, especially at sunset.
All tours on offer include the Birdsville township, the famous Birdsville Racetrack, the Birdsville Billabong and more. Please see below for tours currently operated. The vehicles are also available for charter for any requested itinerary either by individuals, families or tour groups.

4WD Touring Vehicles
The Birdsville Hotel operates 2 brand new 4-wheel drive mini buses. One has a maximum carrying capacity of 20 seats, the other 12 seats. Both have been specially modified to handle our local outback terrain including tackling the mighty Big Red. They are seatbelt equipped, have a full PA system, are airconditioned and very comfortable and spacious.
